Here at the Graphic, we’re proud to say we’ve been serving the Osawatomie community and surrounding residents for more
than a century.
It has been 122 years, if you want to get precise.
During that time, we’ve seen just about everything. From the establishment of John Brown Memorial Park 100 years ago this
year to the ravaging of the community by two devastating floods in only the last 60 years, we’ve been here in the community,
bringing you the news you need to know.
A good newspaper can shoulder that duty from a solid home office, staying in the same location for decades; a great
newspaper can do it from anywhere.
Our publication moved into our current building in October of 1973. Back then, we were known as the Osawatomie Graphic-
News. Our sturdy location at 635 Main St. has served us well through the years, and provided the space we needed when
we housed the East Kansas Offset Inc. printing plant. But throughout the years, just as the needs of the community has
changed, so have ours.
Our current location is more than 7,000 square feet; the primary reason for the spacious warehouse taking up the majority of
our structure was for the printing plant. However, the Graphic hasn’t had a need for an on-site plant since 1998, when we
first explored our options in partnering with the Olathe Daily News to supply our loyal readers with our weekly publication.
Simply put, we have more space than we need.
Undoubtedly, more than a few will do a double-take in the coming days and weeks as they catch a glimpse of a “For Sale”
sign in our office window. We are looking to sell our current building, but we’re also planning to relocate to another location in
the heart of downtown Osawatomie, one which will better suit our needs.
We like to think we have our fingers on the pulse of the community, featuring the stories you want to hear and tackling
issues that are going to affect you. From hard-hitting decisions made by the city government to plain old hard hits on the
gridiron of Lynn Dickey Field, we’re here for you, the reader.
Rest assured, though our location may change, we plan on sticking around for a long time yet to come.
